Hello, and welcome to the Raga homepage! I'm Sourav Banerjee, your deejay on Raga, the only radio show in Delaware dedicated to music from India, both popular and classical, thanks to WVUD Newark, 91.3 FM, the University of Delaware radio station which promotes the richest diversity of music available in Delaware. WVUD is listener-supported and staffed mostly by UD students as well as many volunteer community members such as myself. In case you are browsing this page from the other side of the world, you can hear us online at www.wvud.org. "Raga" airs every Sunday from 4 to 6 PM (EST) on 91.3 FM - broadcasting live from the Perkins Student Center studio. Commentary is usually brief and to the point so that music lovers can enjoy music. In keeping with its mission of providing  a wider choice of  music for all audiences, Raga now offers two full hours and four genres of Indian Music, including:

"Raga" was started in 1990 by Ram Subramaniam, who asked me to take over when he had to leave Delaware in 1992. Since then, with support from WVUD and local music lovers, the program has become a good community resource, helping to spread information about events and activities, as well as giving some talented young people a chance to get on the air.

On this site I have set up special pages for film music and classical music, replete with information, commentary, links, and cool images downloadable by right-clicking your mouse on the image. There is also a special page for those who want to learn more about India, that fascinating country so full of enigmatic contradictions.Since the local Indian community is very active, with organizations such as Indian Students Association of UD, Indo-American Association of Delaware, Jhankar Music Circle, and Hindu Temple Association, there is also a page for updates on local events including but not limited to these organizations. And of course, there is a link to the WVUD homepage so that you can find out about the wide scope of programming at this unique radio station.

To all the generous patrons who have made programs like "Raga" possible on this listener - supported radio station -- Thank you so much! Thank you also to all the listeners of "Raga" who have always given me good feedback and support - it makes a great difference to a deejay! To the staff and fellow deejays at WVUD who are so supportive, interesting, and fun to work with -- you people are fantastic!
